This remedial action project utilized hydraulic dredging to remove 145,377 cubic yards of contaminated sediment from the Grand Calumet River. IAI was responsible for the sediment dewatering and water treatment portions of work. The sediment dewatering pad was installed over a brownfield site in East Chicago, where the contaminated sediment was … [Read more...]
Environmental dredging projects, or those performed for the purpose of removing harmful or potentially harmful contaminants from the natural environment, are core to IAI's business. IAI has participated in these projects as Subcontractor, processing up to 2.2 million cubic yards of contaminated sediment for a single project, and has also self-performed all aspects of a sediment cleanup, from dredging to dewatering, water treatment and capping.
IAI provided water treatment services for the River Raisin PCB Dredging project. The overall project involved hotspot mechanical dredging of sediment containing concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in excess of the 50 mg/kg limit regulated by the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) from deposits adjacent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers … [Read more...]
IAI was the General Contractor for all landside operations on the Ottawa River Remediation Project, which was conducted over the course of the 2010 construction and dredging seasons. The project involved hydraulic dredging of 242,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment from the Ottawa River near Toledo, Ohio. The dredged sediment was pumped by the … [Read more...]
Summary During this project, 14,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment was hydraulically dredged from a former borrow pit and dewatered in geotextile tubes. An existing asphalt parking lot was converted into a geotextile tube laydown area with the installation of temporary sand berms and a high density polyethylene (HDPE) liner. Eighty foot … [Read more...]
