Wetlands Restoration, Erosion Control and Shoreline Protection
Geotextile tubes are installed along beaches, shorelines and wetlands, to create barriers that prevent erosion from waves and storm surges. Geotextile tube and scour apron installations can be used to both repair hurricane damage and protect against future storms. The tubes can be filled on the beach or in the water, and after filling, can be covered with fill material and planted for a natural appearance. The material to fill the geotextile tubes can be dredged from borrow areas, or can be supplied by navigational dredging in an adjacent area. IAI has installed geotextile tubes to stop shoreline erosion and to restore natural wetland habitats that have eroded over time.
