About 120 5th grade students from Keicher Elementary School in Michigan Center, Michigan toured the Leoni Township Wastewater Treatment Plant (operated by IAI) on March 25th. The students spent all day learning about water resources. They started off with a presentation on drinking water protection by Kelly Hon from the Michigan Rural Water Association, and then went by bus to the Leoni Township WWTP.
Once at the plant, the students heard an introductory talk by Tom High, Plant Manager. They were then taken in two groups for a walking tour of the plant by Operations Specialists, Chris Crenshaw and Jared Driscoll. High commented, “The students were well prepared by their teachers, as they asked many good questions.” This is the second year that the Keicher Elementary 5th grade classes have toured the Leoni Township WWTP. We are so pleased that to have the opportunity to teach these students about wastewater treatment and its effect on their world!
